SAPPHIRE Technology has just launched the SAPPHIRE R9 290, the latest graphics card in its new R9 enthusiast series. Based on the latest Graphics Core Next GCN architecture from AMD, the card shares most of the features of the recently released flagship SAPPHIRE R9 290X delivering excellent performance at a more affordable price point. Augmenting the upper end of the R9 series of graphics processors, the new SAPPHIRE R9 290 features 2560 stream processing units and an engine clock of up to 947 MHz. It is equipped with 4GB of the latest high performance GDDR5 memory on a 512-bit interface and clocked at 1.250 MHz 5.0 GHz effective delivering high bandwidth capable of supporting smooth gaming even at UltraHD resolution. With support for UltraHD 4K displays and AMD Eyefinity multi-screen technology, the SAPPHIRE R9 290 maximises the visual experience for work or play with superior image quality and high resolution displays. It uses the PCI-Express 3.0 interface and supports AMD CrossFire natively without the need for bridge cables.
