Today we have the ThermoLab Nano Silencer and we put it to the test and see if it is big enough to keep our CPU from burning up. This heat sink is rated for up to 100W, so don't expect stellar performance on a toasty Quad-Core CPU or an X6800 Extreme Edition CPU. It's made for the HTPC and it seems to work. Biggest selling feature of this cooler is the low-profile design, and also this cooler is nice and quiet, which is a plus if you're going to use this cooler for a HTPC where noise can be an issue. The fan on the Nano Silencer is also equipped with a PWM controlled fan, so if the CPU temperatures rise the fan will also spin up automatically. This fan will speed up to 3,000 RPM if necessary, however in all our testing we never saw fan levels go much over 1200 RPM, which is virtually silent.
