Imagine yourself a PC enclosure designer, charged with the responsibility of distinguishing your company's product from a crowded field of competitors. Tough job, eh? Admittedly, cases have come a long way from the beige box days (for those of you who were alive back then), but they generally must adhere to a set formula.mount a motherboard, power supply, drives & peripherals. Aside from purely aesthetic changes, one thing a case designer can do is take advantage of new technology to add features, an opportunity that presents itself rarely. There one is very ripe opportunity for case designers at the moment, though, and that opportunity comes from hot-swappable SATA technology. As we pointed out in a recent article here at DH, SATA drives are fighting their way out of internal, permanent drive bays and into the open, where one of their coolest features can be readily used.
