We have taken a look at the latest DVDRW from Plextor and this drive is bloody fast. It can finish a full DVD-R in 5:00 minutes flat, and has pretty decent writing quality to boot. If you are looking for an external unit that support Firewire and USB2.0, this drive delivers. Plextor is good, but it's what's inside that counts. The internal working of the drive enclosure is very tidy. Plextor uses a nice IDE split cable for flexibility. Instead of an internal power supply, there is simply a header to plug the drive to the circuit board. Also on this board are the Firewire and USB 2.0 controllers. Not much out of place here - but what is that label?
